Vahana Flaruniss Dis Graileann


Born in the Flarunium Realm during the 18th Dynasty, Vahana was a princess of the House of Graileann. She was the youngest and the most favored daughter of Emperor Graileann, who ruled the Flarunium Realm at the time.

Despite being the 6th in the line of succession, Vahana was excellent in her studies, and showed an extraordinary level of biotic power and sense ability since a young age. To avoid a court struggle between siblings, the Emperor eventually decided to send Vahana to the Lyndel Empyrean to be trained as an Archknight, knowing that becoming an Archknight would then stripped his daughter's right to heir the throne.

At the time of the Protheans, there was an extreme strict Caste system. The Code of the Archknight required one to dismiss his/her bond and background entirely, and only the Archknight Orders could dismiss the caste difference and treat each individual as equal regardless of race or homerealm. Stripped away from everything she owned, Vahana left home without a single personal belonging, except the Echo Shard which her father has given her.

At the age of 267, after achieving a certain war merit as an Apprentice, Vahana gained her Archknight position and her focus of Protection. But not long after the triumphal days, the Reapers invaded the galaxy. With the Citadel been taken over by the Reapers and the Emperors of almost every Realms being killed during the process, the entire Prothean Empire turned into a world of martial laws and rogue leaders.

The Crown Prince of Graileann was representing his father at the Citadel during the Reaper attack, and has sent out a distress signal back to Flarunium to his father as his final words. Emperor Graileann wasn't present in the Citadel when the Reapers invaded, so he was spared, and had immediately ordered to discard every bit of information about Pallaside, now known as Ilos, where the Inusannon technology research facility was located. The emperor had also lifted the caste system, rallying every race in the Realm to unite in order to drive the Reapers out of the Realm. Despite his doings, he was assassinated by his second son, Suridim, who was in favor of putting up a martial law to reinforce the prothean superiority.

As the exemplar of the Virtue of Protection, Vahana took on a mission to lead a group of soldiers to head back to her homerealm to keep order. This then caused the inevitable "court struggle" between she and her second brother. While Vahana had no intention to take over the throne, she was the owner of the Emperor's Echo Shard, which made her able to succeed the lineage of Regents' Memories, and become the rightful leader of the Flarunium Realm.

Vahana refused to spill her kinsmen's blood on the soil where her royal ancestors have rested, and tried to talk Suridim down. She even had offered him the throne entirely because she was still an Archknight, but the people have already favored Vahana over Suridim as their leader. Soon, Suridim left Flarunium with grudge, and have joined the Separatists for similar motives and visions.

Knowing that staying on the planet would be prone to Reaper attacks and the doom of her people, Vahana took her followers and the civilians who were willing to leave onto remaining starships, forming a Reaper resistant fleet called the Flaruniss Fleet. The fleet would then battle the Reapers from system to system, picking up survivors and train the talented ones into soldiers.

Somewhere along the journey, Vahana rescued Javik from a ruined city purged by the Reaper's attack. She recognized Javik's biotic talent from the pile of husk corpses surrounded him, and took the young prothean boy in as a little brother of hers, putting high expectation on him and trained him to become an Archknight.

After the Separatists have sabotaged the Crucible but also intended to assassinate Vahana, she took a personal mission, taking Javik along with her to hunt down her brother.

It was a hard mission to Vahana, as she has always intended to make more alliances than enemies during the desperate time. She was enraged by the Prothean civil war which the Separatists were stirring up within the galaxy; atop of that, they've even captured her starship crew members during her and Javik's leave. The rage drove her in leading battles by battles against the armies of indoctrinated Protheans, and shed the blood of every indoctrinated old friend as she progressed.

When Vahana and Javik had finally finished their battle in the Cronian Nebula, Vahana granted Javik his virtue as an Archknight -- the Virtue of Vengeance, and his focus as the avenger of the ghosts of their people. She then handed over her Imperial Echo Shard to him, and left him with her last order: "Live on, and lead the rest of the Fleet to the Archknight Bunker in Ancora Empyrean in order to live through the War at all costs."

Despite being born at the apex of Prothean Castes, Vahana understood the life of desperate times. As an Archknight, she was strict in the rules of duty. At the same time, she was known for her "primitive" tease to her intimate followers, such as "Biotic Beadbutt" or "Free-style Staring Contest." She proved herself to be a charismatic leader during difficult times, especially when the Galactic Monarch Council was dysfunctional during the Prothean Reaper War. Under her command, the Flaruniss Fleet would become a haven amongst the chaotic war, it would stand for another 400 years until her disappearance, followed by the "Last Resort" lead by the man who succeeded her Echo Shard, Regent Commander Archknight Talas Javik.

Despite being albinistic, Vahana was considered "extremely beautiful" according to Prothean standards. And with the royal blood in her veins, she never showed signs of aging. She earned the name "the White Knight of Flarunium." Some ESCOGA archaeologists discovered a common record of "the Obsidian Goddess of All-Seeing and Protection" within many ancient ruins in Batarian/Omega space, which may possibly referenced from the legend of Vahana's battles.

Additional Notes to clear up confusion

During the Prothean cycle, there was no single supreme leader which ruled the galaxy. The Prothean Imperial space was sectored by 'Realms' and 'Empyreans', each realm was governed by an emperor, and Kings ruled the Empyreans. All the rulers form the Galactic Monarch Council, the Empire functions much like a galactic federation with the Prothean race as the apex of the Caste system.

Flarunium Realm covers a portion of the right half of the current galaxy, with its capitol located in Flaruniss Empyrean, currently known as Caleston Rift.

Lyndel Empyrean is located somewhere between where it's currently known as the Omega Nebula and the Eagle Nebula.

Ancora Empyrean is currently known as the Exodus Cluster.
