Space zombies.
Inspired from ancient asari mural style.

This one was taking FOREVER to make. *facepalm sigh*

I heard there's a tendency for asari to make the central character's appearance gradually looking like one of them. At least for the time being, the "Battle-maiden" still maintain some human features, but obvious alterations such as the weapon and armors were made to cope with asari culture. So please don't ask why she's dressed in ancient asari robe and Justicar armors, like I certainly don't think Athame was half naked when she taught the asaris how to farm 50000 years ago, either...

Speaking of Athame, her actual gender is something worth ponder upon. As common paternal terms in human culture are rare nor possess literal meanings in asari culture, there could be a possibility that it was a male Prothean scientist who went to Thessia, and he carried an "athame" which was a kind of blade, perhaps similar to Javik's blade he used to slit his indoctrinated crews' throat..., anyway, it's all speculations, nothing more...

--------------

We should consider putting Garrus (or anybody who romanced with Shepard regardless of gender) into stasis so then he/she could wake up 50000 years later and totally troll the future asaris about how he/she was "joined" with the Battle-maiden (regardless of actual gender)....

Heh, thanks for the information, because I wasn't notified. They apparently didn't ask me for permission as they did it.

It actually wasn't until very recently that I heard of it from a friend who tossed me a screenshot. But thanks for your time searching for me, I dearly hope it's worth it. <3

Believe me, it was worth the while. Especially because nowhere else the resolution equals the original.
Also I hope its no problem for you someone used your art, even though it was for a good cause, I honestly was just flashed when entering that casino, 'cause I couldn't remember seeing this picture before.
My Femshep was a little touched recognizing herself in the image ;) (Wink) .

I'm normally ok as long as people will give me credits or clues to trace back to my DA. I can't imagine how many people would still be trying to find the original artist and would probably give up because reasons.

Good that I've pleased your FemShep. ;)

I agree, being a transhumanist and supporter of human enhancement, this ending is probably the best ending to explore in fanfiction.

Think of the questions that can be asked and answered: What exactly does the introduction of the semi-synthetic DNA analogue do to the people who are merged with it? Since the husk in the ending is show to be self aware, does it have memories of its past life, or is it a "new person" who can develop a personality different from its original? Does this apply to the alien husks as well? What is the technology behind the Crucible? Certainly galactic civilization would like to study and possibly harness the technology behind this? Does the Catalyst still exist but merged with organic components, or does it shut itself down after Synthesis occurs, seeing no reason to continue operating? If so, since the Reapers are, at best, semi-sapient drones controlled by The Catalyst A.I. and now allies of the galactic society, are they made individually aware yet still linked in a network like the geth, or they still drones but not controlled by a central A.I.? And biggest of all, what will happen now?

The galaxy is massive, even though Synthesis most likely reached almost all of the galaxy, could there be species untouched by Synthesis? What of them? If there aren't, there's still much room for speculation. Just because the gap between synthetic and organic has been bridged doesn't mean that the world is a perfect utopia. Yes, standards of living will most likely improve greatly, but people will still keep their personality.

Criminals and pirates who have been merged with semi-synthetic DNA analogue are no different from criminals and pirates who aren't. What new conflicts could arise now? Who will deal with them? Will a Commander Shepard of the new era rise? If not, will Commander Shepard's old squad take up the task? How will they go on without Shepard? There's so much room for speculation, the possibilities are endless!

I've always considered those who put forth Destroy as the only viable option to be of one of two mindsets;

"We've fought and sacrificed to defeat these things! My pride won't let them continue to exist! Eh? Edi and the Geth? <shrugs> Well, you got to break some eggs to make an omelette..."

Or;

"The flesh is sacred! Organics should remain sacrosanct! As [Insert deity/principle/other here] intended!"

This, I believe, is what the thought processes, stripped down to their core would look like.

If I'm wrong then I would very much like to hear what other reasons beyond fear or hatred would make one chose to murder ones best friend (EDI) and genocide an entire spieces (Geth).

Well, compared to essentially turning everyone into Reapers, to hell with what they have to say on the matter...

Huh. This is actually a catch-22.

Either the Reapers, essentially, WIN...or you wipe out a potentially-allied species to get rid of the Reaper meanace forever.

Oy...

So... basically you HATE the reapers so much that when a suggestion that will make them back down, and for the galaxy to experience a renaissance for the better, is given, you reject it because it came from the reapers?

That's all based on assumptions.

And opinions--assuming that the galaxy will automatically become better because of Synthesis (like it's only natural), is just that: an assumption, based on one's opinion. Again, not everyone is going to be so accepting of Synthesis, and the change is happening without their consent!

And as for the Reapers...They think of themselves as perfection, the end-all, be-all of evolution...and yet the puny little mortals defeated them. That kind of shoots all their talk of perfection right through the head, doesn't it? If the citizens of the galaxy can do that as they are, then some massive violation of their nature and will isn't needed.

Plus, they're xenocidal monsters. That's a damn good reason to reject ANYTHING that comes from them.

Well, the REAPERS idea is to turn a bunch of people into goo and mold them into new reapers and kill the rest.

The Synthesis ending has the geth become true LIVING machine and organic life becoming something new. There was nothing in it that said it was the death of individuality and personality.

"...and organic life becoming something new."

Again, against its will. Whether one wants to or not, here comes Synthesis!

"There was nothing in it that said it was the death of individuality and personality."

Small comfort--It was FORCED upon them. ALL organic life, warped into "something new" because of ONE man/woman's choice. That's just another brand of genocide--it wasn't "the only way to save them" or a necessity...it was a complete erasure of what everyone was, into....."something new".

Because ONE person made that choice for them.

The Reapers saw organic life's extinction as inevitable...and such did happen. Just not how they imagined.

Screw that.

Every ending is forced down onto the rest of the galaxy. Control forces the Reapers to become allies that protect the galaxy, which I am sure many people won't like.

Synthethis forces organics and synthetics to be mixed. And although that can lead to great things, it can also lead to bad one's. And its also forced upon them. I'm sure many would not like it.

Destroy...Yeah, I think that if they were given the choiche, EDI nor the Geth would have wanted to die. You force their death on them. Besides, the Catlyist warned Shepherd of how synthetics could wipe out ALL organic life without the Reapers. Plus, there are always the Leviathans.

Rejection...Speaks for itself, really.

In the end, no matter what you do, you ALWAYS force something on the rest of the galaxy. Like I said in a differant reply, none of the endings are 'bad', nor 'good'.

As for being an individuel...The exctented cut clearly shows that organics and synthetics still have free will after Synthesis. So that argument is invalid.

Sorry. But your logic is insane.

Seriously. That's nuts.

Individuality and personality should be a GIGANTIC COMFORT!

Not if you have a massive, terrifying change inflicted on your most basic existence utterly without your consent...and know that you can NEVER go back to your natural (i.e., TRUE) self, because you'd end up alone, miserable, and OBSOLETE as a pitiful little organic amidst a galaxy of synthetics. (Which themselves may be a source of terror for you, depending on your personal experiences. Like seeing Geth kill your friends, or knowing the Reapers devestated your home-world).

Everything you were was just unmade and twisted into "Something new", without any regard for what you thought on the matter, and everone in the galaxy has no choice but to just...accept it.

And if one's personality and individuality can't acclimate to that new existence....well, so much for a "massive comfort".

A = A.

there was a human soldier whose name was Shepard, she had many difficulties in her life from a young age but still she did not let them change her. Instead they strengthened her resolve, making he more determined to save everyone she could.
A race far older than any thought possible threatened the galaxy and even though she was ignored, Shepard warned those that would listen and accepted those that offered help.
she saved the council of the citadel, sacrificing her own people to defend them and remembered those that lost their lives vowing to do better.
she did what was thought impossible and destroyed a Repear, not once but twice, as well as their slaves the Collectors. at a time she was thought dead but was given a second chance, a second chance to protect the universe and all those in it.
When the war finally came she went to the other races, pulling them together in one united front and doing what she could to so save them. Curing the Krogan of the Genophage, but loosing a friend. Bringing peace to the Quariens and the Geth, but watched as her friend Legion gave itself up so that there would be peace.
In the end she did the greatest sacrifice of all to make lasting peace in the universe, evolving all life everywhere so we may understand each other better to lean from history and make a brighter future where everything, everyone everywhere is connected.
