Let's disregard the comic plot timeline and draw some sci-fi prothean and sci-fi oravores.
This is Vahana (Prothean race, Exemplar of Protection) and Alancier (Oravores race, Exemplar of Vengeance) before the Prothean Reaper War.
They're bviously fighting against something, not sure what it is. They've fought so many wars even the creator had lost count.
It's just good ol' times of pure badass-ness and no politics and all those crazy stuffs, life was simple.
So they're war-buddies, like I've said.
This inter-species liaison just has to work, Javik, stop disapproving.
EDIT: Added more action elements into it so it looks like they're fighting instead of just posing.

Won't lie is that the actual design of the oravores? Cause that looks a lot like a Qunari.
